Color Waves

Not sure about the color? We highly recommend ordering a sample swatch first to see the color and fabric in person. Colors may vary slightly due to screen settings and dye lots. Returns are accepted in accordance with our return policy and are subject to applicable restocking fees.

Dye Lot Variations

A Note About Dye Lots  Dye lots may vary slightly from order to order. As one fabric roll sells out and a new roll is opened, subtle color variations may occur. If matching a specific shade is important, we recommend ordering a sample swatch to view our current dye lot before placing your order.

Full Piece and/or Splits

Full Pieces & Splits

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

More than enough to make the hat I needed for my costume. This fabric is a little tough to work with if you're a beginner. Next time I'll iron out the folds before forming the hat. Low heat.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real horsehair?
No — the name is historical. This Frances Hard Net, sold as horsehair fabric, is a synthetic ultra-stiff netting, not actual horse hair. The name survives from the days when stiffening really came from horsehair. What you get is a 60-inch-wide synthetic net with exceptional stiffness for adding volume and structure to skirts, dresses, hat brims, fascinators, and structured accessories. It behaves consistently, unlike the natural stuff.
How do I finish the edges so it doesn't scratch?
Bind them — never leave horsehair edges raw against skin. This ultra-stiff netting has a wiry cut edge that will scratch and poke. The standard finish: bind hems with bias tape or a satin strip, or sandwich the edge inside a lining. For petticoats, many sewists cut the horsehair slightly shorter than the fashion fabric so the stiff edge never touches skin directly. It's perfect for the structure; just don't let the structure touch you.
