Description

White Peau De Soie is a Duchess Satin. As its second name implies, peau de soie is similar to satin, but more structured. It has the medium weight and smooth feel of satin, but a bit more stiffness, which lends it to being used in a wide variety of styles. It is also much less shiny than satin or charmeuse, bordering on matte. It is best for formal or nighttime weddings.

Color Waves

Not sure about the color? We highly recommend ordering a sample swatch first to see the color and fabric in person. Colors may vary slightly due to screen settings and dye lots. Returns are accepted in accordance with our return policy and are subject to applicable restocking fees.

Dye Lot Variations

A Note About Dye Lots  Dye lots may vary slightly from order to order. As one fabric roll sells out and a new roll is opened, subtle color variations may occur. If matching a specific shade is important, we recommend ordering a sample swatch to view our current dye lot before placing your order.

Full Piece and/or Splits

Full Pieces & Splits

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

Great product. Thank you so much!

I loved the first order of material I received. It worked out perfectly. However, I needed more, so I placed another order in twice. Both times, they sent me fabric that wasn't even close to satin; it was a heavier duty stretch fabric. I'm disappointed as I felt like I finally found a perfect match, but it seems like I can't get the same material again.

The samples were very nice, but would not work for my project.

It was my test order. I will order soon more.

This fabric is so beautiful. While it may be intended for wedding apparel, I have used it to complement church linens. A very nice weight to it.

Pretty fabric, but it wasn't matte. It was very shiney. The back side of the fabric is matte, so maybe that's what was being indicated. I'm sure I will still find a good use for it.

Frequently asked questions

Which satin should I choose for a wedding?
Bridal satin and duchess satin are the classics for gowns, while charmeuse drapes more fluidly for bridesmaid dresses and table runners. Weight and sheen are the key differences. Our bridal satin guide walks through sheen, weight, and best occasions.
What's the difference between charmeuse and crepe back satin?
Charmeuse has a high-shine face and matte back with a liquid drape; crepe back satin gives you two looks in one — satin on one side, crepe texture on the other. Both are popular for apparel and drapery. Compare them in detail in our charmeuse vs. crepe back satin guide.
How do I care for satin fabric?
Care varies by fabric — check the product listing. Satin weaves can snag and show water spots, so gentle handling matters regardless of fiber content. See our delicate fabric care guide for best practices.
Should I buy satin by the yard or by the bolt?
By the yard works for single projects; by the bolt saves significantly per yard for weddings, events, or resale. Bolt pricing is wholesale, and we cut multi-yard orders from one bolt for color consistency. Our 2026 fabric buying guide breaks down yard vs. bolt vs. swatches. Our satin starts from $2.89 per yard.
How does satin compare to velvet and chiffon?
Satin is smooth with a reflective sheen, velvet has pile and depth, and chiffon is sheer and airy — each creates a completely different mood in apparel and decor. Many event designers combine them. This three-fabric comparison helps you choose.
