Duck Cloth Canvas is a 100% Cotton Dyed to Color with weight about 10 oz and is 60" wide. Our Dyed Canvas is a high quality super useful item to sew. Great for Art Projects an DIY art application such as upholstery bags, tote bags, floor cloths, draperies, painters cover and overalls, table covering, chair covers, pillows, backdrops and props. The quality of the canvas is great. The black is a true deep black. It is perfect for the tote bags I make. Will continue to buy only from My Textile Fabric.

This black canvas is great. The quality is very good and it washes well. I make tote bags for gifts and friends and everyone loves the weight of this fabric. I have purchased this quite a few times and will continue to buy canvas only from My Textile Fabric.

Great Fabric

I originally received fabric that was not the canvas that I ordered. I called and spoke with a person that was very helpful. When I received the black canvas I was amazed at the quality of the fabric. Also it is not the faded black that you see in canvas so often. I will definitely be buying more.

Not exactly what I expected

I was expecting a different kind of stabilizer but what I received work ok for my project. I didn’t have time to order sample first.

Lovely fabric, just what I was looking for. However, the site did not show me the price in Canadian $$$ or did they tell me that there were import fees. I found about the additional fees from a third party. Contacted your business and was told this was a standard practice for Canada. I can tell you that this is not STANDARD at all. I should have been notified of the full amount due in Canadian dollars. Thus, I will never order from your company again, having paid an excessive amount for this fabric.

Is this canvas stiff enough for structured tote bags, or is it too soft?

It's stiff enough for structured totes. This is 10 oz duck cloth — a genuinely heavy 100% cotton canvas at 60 inches wide, not the flimsy stuff that flops. One thing to know before you cut: it's not preshrunk, so expect shrinkage on the first wash; we'd pre-wash before cutting any fitted project. The upside of that unwashed stiffness is crisp seams and tote walls that stand up on their own.

Can I paint on this canvas for murals and backdrops?

Yes — it's made for it. The listing names artist canvas, murals, and painting as intended uses, and the 60-inch width gives you big uninterrupted paintable panels. Because it's 100% cotton duck with a tight weave, acrylics and fabric paints grip well. The honest caveat: since it's not preshrunk, wash and dry it before painting if the finished piece might ever be washed, or the paint layer and the cotton will shrink at different rates.
