Satin

I'd like to order 2 more yards of the same white satin I received last week. How can I do this to be sure it's coming from the same source? Thank you!

The GOAT of fabrics

The fabric is extremely beautiful. But was not the color I was expecting. It’s much darker than what I’ve requested. Nonetheless because of how rich and beautiful the fabric is I’ve decided to use it anyways. I don’t mind being the odd ball as long as I’m looking stunning. Shipping was in reasonable timing. About a week. I will definitely purchase again.

Great Online Fabric Store

I am so glad I located this fabric store online. They are now my go to fabric store for formal and dress fabrics! Great quality and very competitively priced!

Poor experience overall, can't recommend

Bought three satin types: matte, charmeuse, bridal. — Poor, poor service.

First a response to their response to my review: They said I sent emails "attacking [their] staff". I am sorry if this is how my emails were taken, but nothing in my emails were attacks as far as I intended, and even now after I just re-read my emails I still don't understand what could be viewed as an attack. If they can provide a quotation of words I used which they deem to be attacking I can evaluate, and apologize for my choice of wording, but I intended no "attack" nor do I perceive how my words could have been construed as such.

Their response to my review mentioned the refund, which I already had in my review, but they make it sound like I continued to email them with "attacks". Not so. I sent one email after their refund (and then more after they claimed my reviews were not from a real customer and had temporarily taken them down, but still without words intending to "attack"). That one email I sent after the refund contained these words:

................................................................................
"Thanks so much!

"Although, I am not sure why refunding for sending a color that was mis-represented should be a one time exception.

"Also, I do still have the question, now asking for a fourth time I think: is the nap, or slightly rough feel on the matte to be expected of all matte satin? Also, your satin has a slick feel in one direction, but has a rough-ish whistley sounding feel in the perpendicular direction. Is this to be expected of all satin? Satin newb here, trying to learn.

"Thanks for your wonderfully customer-centric help in this!"
................................................................................

They still did not answer my questions, and the next email I sent was only after they removed my reviews and I wrote this: "You are having my reviews removed from your site. That is illegal", followed by a link to "Consumer Review Fairness Act: What Businesses Need to Know".

Their response to my review also makes it sound like they thought I was bothered about the darkness of the fabric. No. The purpleness. The other two fabrics in the photo are simply a comparison against neutral grays to readily show the purpleness of the "charcoal". The evidence they say they sent to prove they shipped the right color is something I already wrote about in my review. ––– They still are not answering my other questions, even when they took time to respond here publicly. So, there's that. .....................

Bridal satin review: The middle fabric in the attached photo shows the purple-ness of the “charcoal” compared to two other gray fabrics bought from this store. They sent me the wrong color, not due to my monitor differing. Let me s'plain: I ordered "charcoal", which looks like a neutral gray on their sales page, plus the name suggests it to be neutral in color, plus in their photo of the samples it is placed between black and gray, also suggesting its neutral-ness of color. They shipped me something distinctly purple-ish in color. No one would consider it a charcoal, or even close to gray. A dark, dull purple. I asked them about it. They said "it does have a hue to it." They also sent me *new* photos, different from their sales page photos, showing the purple fabric they sent me with a masking tape label of "charcoal", as if to confirm, yes, we misrepresented the item on our sales page. No offer to correct or reimburse. Only after suggesting I might initiate a chargeback with my credit card company (to force reimbursement), only then did they give "a one time exception to refund." I see. How kind. It only took giving them a noogie to make them act so thoughtfully.

The following describes how these fabrics feel, which may be true of all satin, I don't know. My only experience with satin is these three. So, for any satin newbs like me, this is what these three satins from this store feels like. The feel of all three types of satin is smooth when moving the hand across in one direction (excepting the semi-snagginess of the nap of the matte). When moving the hand perpendicular to this smooth direction, it feels kind of rough, and it whistles or "zips". So, the smooth way feels like moving along with the line of threads, and the rough way feels like moving across the threads. Most distinctly felt and heard on the bridal and matte, less so on the charmeuse. My rating is not reflected by this feel, since for all I know all satin feels this way. Just an fyi. My rating does reflect that in all my emails I sent them (four or five) I asked them about this feel, to find out if it is how all satin feels. They never answered. They only (reluctantly) addressed the wrong color issue.

(The star rating has a pre-selected default of five stars—if I had not noticed, my definite one star rating would have gone through as a five star rating. Clever. And dishonest.)

Thank you Daniel Heywood for your review.

Upon reviewing your initial review of the Bridal Satin, you messaged/emailed us that the color you received was incorrect. We did in fact email you with facts proving the color shipped was correct.

However, you were still sending and attacking our staff via emails over the issue in which then we offered you a full refund for the item as a gesture of customer service.

We also want to point out the the color you have mentioned below in comparison to the Charcoal is a Charmeuse 1126 Silver color. Silvers are quite drastically lighter in shade than than any 1139 Charcoal Tones. One can NOT compare or justify the two as the same. Again the picture you have attached shows the difference in tones. Charcoal's again are much darker than Silvers.

For future reference and what most clients (especially for those who are still learning about fabrics) often do is purchase sample swatches. We offer swatches of the product prior to purchasing full yards and or bolts of the product. This allows the customer to touch and feel and see the color they are going to be purchasing in bulk. Drastically reducing any errors and or beliefs of receiving the incorrect product.
