We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

Frequently asked questions

Water repellent vs waterproof — which is this?

Water repellent — and the distinction matters. Taffeta Coating is a 100% polyester water-repellent taffeta (58/60" wide, about 40 GSM, light and smooth). Repellent means water beads and rolls off; it's not seam-sealed waterproof like rain gear. The listing positions it for apparel lining, light rain covers, tents, liners, and umbrellas — applications where shedding light rain is the job. For a drizzle, it's excellent. For a downpour, water eventually finds a way — that's true of every repellent fabric.

40 GSM — isn't that too light to be useful?

It's the point. At about 40 grams per square meter, this taffeta is featherweight — it adds water repellency to a garment as lining without adding bulk or weight, which is exactly what apparel lining should do. The 100-yard roll size (as of 6/4/2026) signals production use. For tent liners and umbrella covers, the lightness means it packs tiny. The tradeoff: 40 GSM won't take abuse — it's a liner and cover fabric, not a workwear shell. Use it where lightness is the feature.

Can I machine wash it?

Yes — 100% washable, cold or warm, low tumble. Washing doesn't harm the polyester taffeta, but be aware that every wash gradually reduces any durable water repellent (DWR) finish — that's true of all repellent fabrics, and the listing doesn't claim permanent repellency. For linings, wash normally. For rain covers where repellency is the job, wash only when needed and consider a spray-on DWR refresher after many washes. The base fabric itself is fully laundry-proof.
