Its lightweight and comfortable to wear but can also be used to make a fitted dress that shows off your curves. Great choice for Flowy Skirt and day dresses. Make note fabric is super soft and has a wonderful drape.

I'm a beginner — is rayon challis too slippery to sew?

It's manageable if you're patient, but we'd be straight with you: at 105 GSM this Love Flower Rayon Challis is light and shifty, and challis is one of the trickier first-garment fabrics. Cut it with pattern weights instead of pins, keep the pieces flat on the table while you sew, and don't let the fabric hang off the table edge and stretch. The payoff is real — this challis has a beautiful drape that makes flowy skirts and day dresses look professionally made. The tradeoff: budget your extra time at the cutting table, not the sewing machine.

How much extra yardage do I need for shrinkage?

Buy at least 8% more than your pattern calls for. This Love Flower Rayon Challis carries an 8% shrinkage allowance, so 3 yards on the pattern means ordering about 3¼ yards, and 5 yards means about 5½. Prewash before cutting — machine cycle cold or warm — because rayon shrinks most on its very first wash. We'd rather you have a little extra than come up short after the fabric relaxes.
