Description

Soft Liquid Lame is a soft mechanical stretch metallic fabric. This fabric is 100% Polyester with a mechanic stretch. Stretches across the Grain, no stretch with the grain. This item is made in Korea and is about 45" wide. Lame end to end is about 40" wide. Lame can be used for accents, decorations, event planning and more.

Beautiful Gold Stretch Lame

I received an email stating that My Textile Fabric was having a sale right at the time my niece's daughter was entering another pageant and needed a flashy outfit for her spirit wear. I got online and found this gold stretch lame fabric and it was the perfect fabric to make her jumpsuit with. The fabric arrived quickly in South Carolina from California even during the holiday rush. It was packaged well and the fabric was in perfect condition. The fabric was easy to work with sewed beautifully. I added purple sequins and rhinestone accents/appliques to it and she is going to kill it! Thank you My Textile Fabric!

Great luster

I ordered the black silver, it looks like molten metal. The darker background makes color look richer and more expensive, I think. It’s a tiny bit less supple than I hoped, but I’m going to wash it on delicate, I expect that will make it even more fluid and drape- ey .

Frequently asked questions

Why are there two widths — 40 and 45 inches?

Because of how lamé is woven. The fabric is cut at 45 inches, but the usable width — the stable, non-curling lamé between the edges — is about 40 inches. The outer inches tend to curl or fray, so you plan your project on 40 inches of reliable fabric. It's 100% polyester with a mechanical stretch across the grain only (no stretch with the grain), about 98 GSM, made in Korea. Honest advice: always calculate yardage on the 40-inch usable width, or you'll come up short.

Which way does liquid lamé stretch?

Across the grain only — the mechanical stretch runs selvage to selvage, with no stretch along the grain (lengthwise). That matters for cutting: for a scarf or sash, cut so the stretch wraps around the body; for flat decor and craft pieces, it doesn't matter. It's about 98 GSM, machine washable, in multiple colors, and the bolt runs 100 yards (as of early 2025). Honest note: mechanical stretch doesn't recover like spandex — it's a gentle give, not a snap-back. Don't cut fitted garments expecting compression.
