Holland Velvet is part of our Royal Velvet Line. This is a Printed Velvet Fabric. Manufactured for and prized for its wonderful velvet flow with a metallic pattern embossed into the Velvet. Fabric is soft but heavy and great for Upholstery or Curtain Panels. Great for tablecloths and linens.

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

Yes as long as you use a tricot fusing on the back of the velvet before upholstering your job. The fusing will make it more sturdy and strong

Is the metallic pattern on Holland Velvet printed or embossed?

Both, effectively — the listing describes a metallic pattern embossed into the velvet, from our Royal Velvet line. It's a printed velvet where the metallic design is pressed into the pile, giving you pattern plus texture in one. At about 300 GSM (roughly 14 oz per linear yard) and 58/60 inches wide, it's a soft-but-heavy velvet built for upholstery, curtain panels, tablecloths, and linens. It's machine washable (cold, low tumble, simple soap, no Clorox). Honest tradeoff: embossed metallic patterns can flatten with aggressive washing and pressing — wash gentle, and never iron the pile directly.

Is 300 GSM too heavy for curtains?

No — for curtain panels, 300 GSM is actually ideal: heavy enough to hang in rich folds and block light well, which is what you want from velvet drapery. This Holland Velvet's soft-but-heavy hand (about 14 oz per linear yard) gives curtains that luxurious drape. The tradeoff is practical: heavy velvet needs sturdy hardware — standard tension rods won't cut it — and full-length panels get heavy to handle while hanging. For upholstery (dining chairs, ottomans), the 300 GSM weight is exactly right for wear.
