Ribbon Taffeta is a plain taffeta with an embroidered pattern sewn on. This embroidery has neutral and two tone colors. Great for fun and unique creations.

Ribbon Taffeta vs Pintuck Taffeta — which should I get for chair covers?

For chair covers, we'd point you to Ribbon Taffeta. Both are 100% polyester taffetas, but the ribbon cord embroidery lies flatter than the raised 2"x2" pintuck diamonds, so it handles the stretching and tucking of chair-cover installation with less distortion. The pintuck's dimension is prettier on a flat tablecloth; the ribbon embroidery survives being pulled tight. Both are machine washable cold or warm with low tumble, so laundering is equal.

How do I iron Ribbon Taffeta without flattening the embroidery?

Press it from the back side with a press cloth, on low to medium heat. The ribbon cords on this taffeta will flatten and shine if you press directly on the face — and polyester can take a shine permanently. The 190T taffeta base itself de-wrinkles easily with steam. Honest tradeoff: the embroidery means this fabric takes a little longer to press than plain taffeta, but the texture is the reason you bought it, so it's worth the extra pass.
