Description

Cotton Lawn is a lightweight 100% Cotton Fabric. Fabric is 57/58" Wide. Greatly used for lining. Fabric can also be layered to make it more opaque. Fabric has a soft breathable finish for Lining purposes and or dresses when layered. This fabric is Garment pro.

Cleaning Instructions	100% Cotton - We highly suggest hand washing our Cotton to preserve the lifespan. However it is is Machine Washable in Cold Water, Low Tumble, No Bleach, Hang to Dry.
Picture Taken	Picture is taken with and/or without flash depending on the color. If you are very particular about the color tone - please order a sample swatch to avoid any issues.

Perfect fabric for Chemise sleeves.

This lawn was just what I needed. The ivory is perfect stand in for white when you don't need BRIGHT white. It matched my project. It is semi sheer which creates a nice effect for big flowing sleeves however even with the smaller needle it did gain some puckers or thread pulls while sewing.

Aside from that it's a great fabric, soft, flowy, irons and washes well. Will buy more in the future.

100% cotton as described, passed burn test. Very nice quality. I would recommend if you’re making chemises, light summer petticoats, or even a chemise a la reine. It’s a very beautiful cotton with nice feel and lovely coloring. Not too opaque, not too translucent.

Looks very beautiful on my project

I ordered 20 yards of this and was surprise at how quickly this got shipped. It came two days earlier than expected by Etsy and was folded and packaged very tightly so I was able to carry it with no issues. Since it came off a roll it was a little hard to wrap onto a bolt but I was able to do that with some help. One side seemed to be torn for a straight "cut" and the other side was cut with scissors, I didn't mind as I regularly tear my natural fabrics any chance I get.
All in all, I'm very happy with my order and plan to continue buying from this shop.

Is cotton lawn see-through?

Somewhat — the listing calls it semi solid/sheer, which is honest. At about 3 oz with a lightweight 100% cotton weave, a single layer of cotton lawn will show shadows through it, especially in light colors. That's exactly why it's sold as a lining fabric and why the listing suggests layering it for more opacity. For summer dresses and blouses, most sewists either line it, underline it, or embrace the airy look. The tradeoff in your favor: that same lightness is what makes it beautifully breathable — it presses crisply, sews like a dream, and feels like nothing against the skin.

Is cotton lawn a good fabric for a beginner?

It's one of the best beginner fabrics we carry. The 100% cotton weave is stable — no slipping like satin, no stretch to fight — and at 57/58 inches wide with a soft, breathable finish, it's forgiving to cut and press. Wash it first, though: the care guidance suggests hand washing to preserve its lifespan (it's machine washable cold, low tumble, no bleach, hang dry), and cotton lawn can shrink on the first wash. Honest note: because it's so light at about 3 oz, it shows every pinhole and pressing mistake — use fine pins and a light iron hand.
