Dahlia is a flowered embroidery on a sheer organza. Fabric is very light weight and has a soft embroidered touch. Great for accents, children's clothing, and overlays in the event industry.

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

Beautiful

Nice scroll work for the flowers and sequins. Will work well for curtains for my living room, with a light blue backing. I’m sure it would make a nice wedding dress/veil as well.

Is Dahlia organza too sheer and fiddly for my first child's dress?

It's sheer, but it's one of the easier embroidered sheers to start with. Dahlia is only about 25 grams per square meter — extremely light — with a soft floral embroidery and sequin embellishment on a 52/54" wide sheer organza. The honest tradeoff: you'll need a lining or slip underneath for any garment, since it's fully sheer, and sequins can snap a needle if you sew straight through them — sew between the sequins or pick them out of your seam allowances. Use a fresh sharp needle and go slow, and it's very doable.

Will the sequins on Dahlia survive machine washing?

They'll survive, but not forever. Dahlia is listed machine washable (cold or warm, low tumble), and the floral sequin embroidery is sewn on — but every wash cycle loosens sequin threads a little. We'd be straight with you: put anything made from Dahlia in a mesh garment bag and wash cold, and expect a few sequins to eventually work free on a well-loved child's dress. If it's an event overlay that gets washed constantly, budget for that wear or hand wash it.
