Picnic Checkers is a gingham checkers that measures approximately 1" squares or about a quarter size per square. Made of a basic polyester visa fabric. Makes it an affordable and durable table linen, overlay and or restaurant style tablecloth. This fabric is also great for costumes and uniform style suiting.

Cleaning Instructions	100% Polyester Washable - Machine Cycle Cold or Warm, Low Tumble, Dry under low temperatures.
Picture Taken	Picture is taken with and/or without flash depending on the color. If you are very particular about the color tone - please order a sample swatch to avoid any issues.

A Note About Dye Lots Dye lots may vary slightly from order to order. As one fabric roll sells out and a new roll is opened, subtle color variations may occur. If matching a specific shade is important, we recommend ordering a sample swatch to view our current dye lot before placing your order.

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

How big are the checks — will they look right on a restaurant tablecloth?

Each check is about 1 inch square — roughly the size of a quarter — which is the classic restaurant gingham scale. On a 58/60" wide goods at 220 grams per square yard (medium weight, smooth poly hand), the 1" checks read crisp and traditional from table distance without the dizzying effect of tiny checks. It's made from a basic polyester visa fabric, so it's affordable and durable enough for restaurant turnover. If you want a bolder, more modern look, you'd need a larger check — but for classic picnic/bistro style, 1" is the standard for a reason.

Is matching the checks at the seams hard for a beginner?

Gingham is actually one of the friendliest prints for learning pattern matching. The 1" grid on this polyester gives you a built-in guide — just align the checks at the seam line and pin generously. The real beginner trap isn't the checks, it's cutting off-grain: if your cut skews, the checks go crooked across the whole tablecloth and no amount of matching fixes it. Square up your fabric first (the checks themselves help you see grain), and the matching part is straightforward.

Will this gingham fade or wear out fast in a busy restaurant?

It holds up well for the price. This is a 100% polyester basic visa fabric at 220 GSM — polyester doesn't fade the way cotton gingham does, and it's machine washable (cold or warm, low tumble) for constant laundering. That's exactly why restaurants buy poly gingham over cotton. The honest tradeoff: polyester won't develop that soft lived-in cotton feel, and light colors can eventually pick up grease staining in a kitchen environment — but for durability per dollar, it's the workhorse choice.
