Color Waves

Not sure about the color? We highly recommend ordering a sample swatch first to see the color and fabric in person. Colors may vary slightly due to screen settings and dye lots. Returns are accepted in accordance with our return policy and are subject to applicable restocking fees.

Dye Lot Variations

A Note About Dye Lots  Dye lots may vary slightly from order to order. As one fabric roll sells out and a new roll is opened, subtle color variations may occur. If matching a specific shade is important, we recommend ordering a sample swatch to view our current dye lot before placing your order.

Full Piece and/or Splits

Full Pieces & Splits

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is 45 inches wide enough for upholstery, or should I look at wider velvet?
For most upholstery, 45 inches is on the narrow side. This micro velvet measures 44/45 inches wide, which works well for dining chair seats, throw pillows, and small accent pieces. For a full sofa or large armchair, you'd need significantly more yardage to accommodate the narrower width — and more seams. We'd honestly point you toward our 58/60-inch velvets for larger upholstery projects. The tradeoff in your favor: at 230 GSM, this micro velvet has a tight, short pile that wears well and resists crushing better than plusher velvets.
I'm a beginner — is micro velvet easier to sew than regular velvet?
Yes, noticeably easier. This micro velvet has a short pile and a woven (non-stretch) backing, so it doesn't shift and crawl the way plush velvets do under the presser foot. At 0.70 mm thick, it's substantial enough to handle without tissue paper underneath. That said, it's still velvet — mark your nap direction with chalk arrows before cutting, because pieces cut in opposite directions will read as different shades. Use a fresh universal needle and go slow on seams.
Will this velvet work for a cosplay cape?
It depends on the character. This micro velvet has a subtle shine and smooth feel at 230 GSM — great for elegant capes, royal costumes, and anything where you want a rich look without excessive bulk. The 100% polyester content means it won't wrinkle badly in a convention bag. The honest limitation: at 45 inches wide, a full dramatic cape will need piecing or extra yardage. For a flowing floor-length cape, plan on 3-4 yards to get the drape you want.
