Description

Shiny Stretch Patent Vinyl Fabric combines a high-gloss patent finish with 2-way stretch flexibility in a 55-inch width. Made from 94% polyester and 6% spandex, this durable material delivers both visual impact and wearability for fashion apparel, costumes, cosplay, accessories, and decorative projects. The sleek, modern finish gives it a patent leather-like appearance while the spandex blend ensures comfort and ease of movement.

Perfect for designers and DIY enthusiasts seeking a versatile fabric with style and function, this material works beautifully for bold leggings, skirts, jackets, dresses, handbags, belts, and home décor items. Care is simple—wipe clean with a damp cloth and store flat or rolled away from direct sunlight to preserve the glossy finish and color vibrancy. Sample swatches are available for exact color matching, as monitor settings may affect appearance.

Color Waves

Not sure about the color? We highly recommend ordering a sample swatch first to see the color and fabric in person. Colors may vary slightly due to screen settings and dye lots. Returns are accepted in accordance with our return policy and are subject to applicable restocking fees.

Dye Lot Variations

A Note About Dye Lots  Dye lots may vary slightly from order to order. As one fabric roll sells out and a new roll is opened, subtle color variations may occur. If matching a specific shade is important, we recommend ordering a sample swatch to view our current dye lot before placing your order.

Full Piece and/or Splits

Full Pieces & Splits

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

Frequently asked questions

Which direction does the 2-way stretch go?
Test it when it arrives — 2-way stretch runs in one direction only, and the listing doesn't specify which. This Shiny Patent Vinyl is 94% polyester / 6% spandex at 55 inches wide, and the stretch direction determines your pattern layout: you want the give going around the body for leggings and skirts. Pull the fabric both ways when you unroll it and mark the stretch direction with chalk before cutting a single piece.
How do I sew vinyl without it sticking to my machine?
The sticking is real — patent vinyl grabs metal. Use a Teflon or roller foot, lengthen your stitch, and never backstitch over the same spot repeatedly (needle holes in vinyl are permanent). The classic trick: lay tissue paper between the vinyl and the machine bed, then tear it away after. This 55-inch vinyl's high-gloss patent finish shows every needle hole, so fit with pins only inside seam allowances or use clips instead.
