Description

Knit ITY Fabric is a 58/60" Wide Knit Lining. Fabric hugs the body with a 95% Polyester 5% Spandex Ratio. ITY stands for Interlock Twist Yarn. Twisting the Yarn Results in more Elasticity. Also creates a softer hand feel. ITY Knits are easy to sew with and quite popular for tops, dresses, skirts and flowy pants.

Cleaning Instructions	100% Washable - Machine Cycle Cold or Warm, Low Tumble, Dry under low temperatures. We always suggest Dry Cleaning to Pres eve the longevity of your fabric

Nice fabric

The fabric is nice, but wasn’t what I was looking for. The knit fabric was just a bit too thin for what I needed it for. The knit fabric was see-thru when stretched so keep that in mind if using it for a tight tshirt, loose knit would be good still. It feels very soft.

The other fabric was very similar to a muslin fabric. It’s soft enough for babies.

What does ITY stand for, and why does it matter?

Interlock Twist Yarn — the yarns are twisted during production, which gives the knit more elasticity and a softer hand than a standard interlock. This ITY is 95% polyester / 5% spandex at 58/60 inches, about 3 oz per linear yard: very soft, light body, and it hugs the body. That twist-yarn construction is why it's so popular for tops, dresses, skirts, and flowy pants — it drapes without clinging and recovers well. Machine wash cold or warm, low tumble. Honest note: at 3 oz it's lightweight, so for fitted dresses consider a lining — it can show every line underneath.

The listing says 'knit lining' — is this actually a lining fabric?

It can be, but it's really a fashion knit that also works as a lining. The description calls it a knit lining because at 3 oz with a soft, smooth hand it lines garments beautifully — but its listed uses are tops, dresses, skirts, and flowy pants, which are outerwear. The 95/5 poly-spandex gives it stretch and recovery, and it's easy to sew. Our honest take: buy it for the drapey knit garment you want to make; the fact that it can also line things is a bonus, not its main job.
