Glitter Stretch Velvet is a 90/10 Blend. Water Dyed in Korea and sold by the Yard. Fabric is super soft and has a spandex. Great for Scrunchies, Hair Bands, Pants, Shirts, and Athletic and Dance wear.

Happy with Order but disappointed with the cost!

I wish you had a multiple yard discount. I have ordered twice, the last time 6 yards and am thinking a 10 yard order next but it is not to my advantage to do so as you don't have multiple yard discounts and you don't sell glitter velvet by the bolt.

Does the glitter shed in the wash?

Some, inevitably — it's glitter on a stretch velvet base, and friction loosens glitter on any fabric. The listing notes it's water dyed in Korea (the color is dyed into the base, not just surface-coated), which helps the color stay put, but the glitter itself will shed somewhat with wear and washing. It's machine washable. Our honest take: for scrunchies and hair bands (its headline uses), shedding is a non-issue; for pants, expect some glitter transfer to other clothes in the wash — wash it separately or in a mesh bag, especially the first few times.

What does 350 GSY mean — is this a heavy velvet?

GSY means grams per square yard, and 350 is genuinely heavy for a stretch velvet — this is a substantial, plush fabric, not a flimsy stretch velvet. That weight (at 58/60 inches, 90% polyester / 10% spandex) is why it works for pants and structured pieces as well as scrunchies: it has body and holds its shape. Machine washable. The honest tradeoff: heavyweight stretch velvet is warm to wear and bulky to sew — for summer tops, a lighter stretch velvet would be more comfortable. For fall and winter apparel, dancewear, and accessories, the 350 GSY weight is the feature.
