Royal Velvet is a Smooth Non Stretch Velvet with a Subtle Sheen. Fabric is 58" wide and 100% Polyester making it a very versatile fabric. Used in the Event industry for pipe n draping rooms, tablecloths, napkins, chair covers and cushion covers. For Apparel, it can be used for skirts, tops, and children's clothing. Very popular in the Theatrical scene for its luscious velvety flow and hand-feel. Fabric is Sold in the Continuous Yards.

Cleaning Instructions	100% Washable - Machine Cycle Cold or Warm, Low Tumble, Dry under low temperatures.
Picture Taken	Picture is taken with and/or without flash depending on the color. If you are very particular about the color tone - please order a sample swatch to avoid any issues.

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

Coppen Velvet for a couch upholstery

I purchased the Coppen color for a couch upholstery spring 2025. It's been a while since I upholstered the couch, a DIY project that I did. And I must say the fabric is strong, sturdy and looks high end on my couch. The fabric was shipped promptly and delivered on time. The only suggestion I have is to purchase a swatch. Because I was looking for a silver velvet. The Coppen looks Silver in the photo but when I received it, it was a blue color. But I kept it and it worked out well. I recently purchase 3 yards to complete three cushions for the couch. The pic is from October 2025. It is October 2026 and the couch still looks brand new.

Doesn't look cheap and easy to sew

This is a lovely blue velvet. It was easy to sew and didn't "creep" too much when I sewed it to the satin lining. I do believe it shrank a bit where I ironed on an applique' so next time I'll pre-wash and dry and press to try to eliminate that from happening. It has a sophisticated sheen that doesn't look cheap, despite it's affordability.

This Fabric is awesome -- My original order was over 20 yards of Tan and of the HOt Pink -- They are both beautiful! The tan should be rename Greige because it more like Grey and Beige (Taupe) Will go with a very neutral scheme. The Hot Pink is not a bright as the online photo so if you are picky about the color get a one yard sample. The swatch I received was different from the yardage I received.

Not the thick Velvet I was hoping for, it seems to be hard to find. This is more like a plush velveteen. The colors are vivid and non stretch.

Previously searched for this fabric with several previous suppliers and none have this quality, if you do sublimation this fabric is so perfect, the quality to the touch is exquisite and the sublimation colors come out so bright, I definitely recommend this fabric and will be buying continuously.

Terrible color match

I bought a sample of velvet and then bought a large order based on the color of the sample. It was much different from the sample and won’t work for my project. Since you don't allow returns, I’m stuck with a bolt of velvet I can’t use and now have to try to find the right color.

Lovely fabrics

I ordered two swatches to decided between different colors of velvet. The material was beautiful and has a wonderful hand. The swatches were inexpensive and arrived pretty quickly. The only thing stopping me from a full five star review is the small size of the sample. Velvet reflects light and it was difficult to see how that would change the color. However, I did make a selection and ordered the yardage I needed. Can’t wait for it to arrive and start sewing.

Hi Nomad, BT Royal Velvet is not sprayed FR or IFR nor does it have any stain resistant chemicals. The fabric is dyed however. For jewelry display we suggest this or more commonly used us our Triple Velvet. Search for Triple Velvet in the search bar to compare the two products.

Non-stretch velvet versus stretch velvet — which do I need?

It depends on the structure you want. This BT Royal Plush Velvet is a smooth non-stretch velvet with a subtle sheen — it holds tailored shapes, crisp pleats, and upholstery lines that stretch velvet can't. Stretch velvet is for body-hugging garments; this is for everything else: drapery, tablecloths, cushions, skirts, and children's clothing that need to keep their shape. At about 300 GSM (14 oz per linear yard) on a 58-inch width, it's a substantial, upholstery-weight velvet.

Is 58 inches wide enough for upholstery?

For most upholstery, yes — with planning. This BT Royal Plush Velvet is 58 inches wide (usable width; the title rounds to 60), which covers dining chair seats, cushions, ottomans, and throw pillows comfortably. For a full sofa you'd need more yardage and more seams than a 118-inch drapery velvet — the listing also positions it for event pipe-and-drape and tablecloths, where the 58-inch width is standard. It's machine washable cold or warm, a real advantage over dry-clean-only velvets for cushion covers.
