Stretch velvet has a beautiful velvet feel and a beautiful velvet drape, but is much, much easier to work with than its traditional counterpart. Stretch Velvet have an subtle sheen for an added touch of sparkle! This fabric has a have an ultra-soft hand and 4 way stretch, with 40% stretch across the grain for added movement. These stylish fabrics are perfect for tops, skirts, dresses, dancewear and more.

Cleaning Instructions	100% Washable - Machine Cycle Cold or Warm, Low Tumble, Dry under low temperatures.
Picture Taken	Picture is taken with and/or without flash depending on the color. If you are very particular about the color tone - please order a sample swatch to avoid any issues.

We always do our best to provide your order in one continuous piece whenever possible. However, as fabric rolls are completed or depending on how they arrive from the mill, an order may occasionally include more than one piece. Some mill-direct rolls may also contain splits within the roll.

For this reason, we cannot guarantee one continuous piece. If continuous yardage is important for your project, please contact our team before ordering so we can check availability for you.

I ordered the Burgundy color and was expecting it to be much darker, closer to a wine color(but that's my bad for needing it so fast and not ordering swatches.) It's still beautiful and a joy to work with. I usually have trouble with lint when I work with velvet and this stayed together so well. I didn't even need to interface anything but the eyelet sections because the backing is sturdy but also drapes beautifully. This shop earned a life long customer! Thanks for saving the day!

Much to my disappointment the major color was missing, I took a photo of the fabric I received to show what was shipped. The main color was not included, Very unhappy with the customer service. they score an F all the way around.

I dislike writing anything negative. This was not expected but if you get a light color it may have a dark stain. Hope it washes out. I can say the fabric will not shrink as I have purchased before in other colors. Does Etsy let one update reviews? If it washes out I will see if they do. Otherwise I have always been very pleased with my purchases from this store. The fabric is nice, great quality.

Is stretch velvet really easier to sew than regular velvet?

Much easier — the listing says so outright, and it's true. This stretch velvet has 4-way stretch with about 40% stretch across the grain, which means it eases around curves instead of creeping and shifting like traditional velvet. At 58" wide and about 350 grams per square yard with an ultra-soft hand, it's substantial but cooperative. You still cut all pieces in one direction (nap matters for color), but you can skip half the pinning anxiety of woven velvet. For beginners who want the velvet look, this is the entry point.

Will this work for a cosplay bodysuit?

It's a strong candidate. The 4-way stretch (40% across the grain) gives the movement a bodysuit needs, the 350 GSM weight provides opacity, and the subtle sheen reads rich on camera — the listing names costumes and cosplay outright. At 58" wide you get efficient pattern layout. The honest fitting note: velvet shows every lump and seam, so fit carefully and consider a lining for structure; and like all velvets, it crushes with pressure — backpack straps and sitting will mark it.

Can I machine wash stretch velvet?

Yes — 100% washable, cold or warm, low tumble. That's a genuine advantage over traditional velvets that demand dry cleaning. The 100% polyester (spandex-blend) construction handles machine washing; we'd wash inside-out in cold water to protect the pile, and never wring it. One velvet-specific warning: don't iron the pile flat — steam from the back if you must de-wrinkle. The stretch recovers well, so garments keep their shape through laundering.
